The Association of Filipino Teachers and Educators in America, Inc. (AFTEA, Inc.), an educational partner of St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) has extended its invitation to participate in the 4th International Research and Education Conference (IREC) on June 29, 2024 to July 6, 2024. The event was held at Leonard’s Palazzo, Great Neck, New York City. SPUP is represented by Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales (Director, Internationalization) and Dr. Allan Peejay Lappay (Director, Alumni, External Relations and Advocacies).
It bannered the theme, “Trailblazing the Futures of Education Initiative: A Commitment to Renewed Perspective through Global Collaboration.” The convergence served as a platform for researchers, educators, and teachers from the Philippines and United States of America to discuss and share a common response to UNESCO’s “Reimagining Our Futures Together.” This year, the activity was co-hosted by Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST).
The conference featured plenary addresses, research presentations and service awards. In the break-out sessions, Dr. Lappay presented his paper on “Mainstreaming Whole-Person Approach in SPUP’s Transformative Education.” In the awarding ceremonies, Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) was conferred the “Servant Leadership Award,” while, Dr. Morales and Dr. Lappay received a National Teaching Service (Silver and Emerald) Award, respectively.
The SPUP delegates also participated in various educational activities organized by AFTEA. This included historical tour (in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC), educational benchmarking (in Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and industry visit (in Niagara Power Plant).
The IREC was participated by various Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), Department of Education (DepEd) Schools from the Philippines, New York Department of Education Schools, and other institutions across the United States. Moreover, some of the participants are teachers in USA, who are enrolled in SPUP Graduate School.
