Seven Japanese students from Tokushima University completed their language camp and cultural immersion in SPUP on March 08, 2024. Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) led the University administrators in the closing program of the 2024 Language Camp and Culture Immersion. Some foreign students from Nigeria, China, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and officers of the Paulinian Student Government (PSG) also graced the occasion.
Spearheaded by Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales (Director, Internationalization), an array of engagement activities was prepared for the Japanese students from February 26 – March 7, 2024. Their academic immersion consisted of an extensive English Language class, facilitated by Dr. Concepcion Doyugan (Head, Intercultural Institute for Languages), and participation in college classes and related learning experience (RLE) endeavors aligned with their respective program of study. Moreover, their cultural immersion activities were led by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). The Japanese students witnessed residents’ lifestyle, experienced local delicacies and visited heritage landmarks in Tuguegarao City. They were also led to an ocular visit at St. Paul Hospital-Tuguegarao and SPUP Heritage Center, pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Piat, and eco-tour at Callao Cave in Peñablanca. They also had an interactive activity with foreign and international students in the University.
The language and culture immersion program is part of the academic partnership and collaboration between SPUP and Tokushima University. This year’s participants were Ms. Maeda Yukako (Civil Engineering), Mr. Nakanishi Katsutake (Mechanical Engineering), Ms. Shiraga Yuko (Psychology), Mr. Onishi Naoki (Medical Radiology), Ms. Koyama Miyu (Nursing), Ms. Nitta Saya (Applied Chemistry) and Ms. Kitajima Nana (Economics/Psychology).
