SPUP-BEU SHINES AT RSPC: 2 PAULINIANS ADVANCE TO NSPC; THE PAULINETTE, THE PAULEEN VICTORIOUS

Campus journalists from the Basic Education Unit (BEU) of St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) showcased their journalistic prowess during the recent Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held last May 19–21, 2023, at Lal-lo, Cagayan, leaving a trail of achievements and securing its position as a force to be reckoned with 24 talented Paulinian campus journalists, both from the elementary and secondary levels, competed in various categories, representing both the school and the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Tuguegarao City.
The hard work and dedication of these campus journalists paid off, as two Paulinians secured a spot in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) to be held in Cagayan de Oro City. Cydney Ontiveros, a Grade 5 student, showcased her talent in Copyediting and Headline Writing (Elementary Filipino), securing her place in the upcoming event. Additionally, Lyana Aquino, a Grade 12 HUMSS student, displayed her exceptional skills in Column Writing (Secondary English), earning a spot in the prestigious competition.
The outstanding performance of SPUP did not stop there. Several students earned well-deserved recognition in their respective categories. Tristha Tolentino clinched 2nd place in Column Writing (Elementary English), while Ada Guzman and Azhi Taguinod secured the same position in Editorial Writing (Elementary English) and (Elementary Filipino), respectively. Gabrielle Cipriano impressed the judges with her skills in Photojournalism (Elementary English), also earning 2nd place. Yeshuah Lagundi showcased his expertise in Copyediting And Headline Writing (Elementary English), securing 4th place.
In addition to individual accolades, SPUP’s collective efforts in various media productions received recognition. The school’s Radio Broadcasting Team (Elementary English) garnered an impressive 3rd place overall, while their scriptwriting skills earned them 2nd place. The infomercial produced by the broadcasters was also recognized as the second-best. Furthermore, Kristee Rivera displayed exemplary talent, winning first place in the Best Anchor category. Jessie Jr. Dela Cruz received praise for his technical application skills, earning third place. Kristee Rivera and Gieo Miguel showcased their news presentation abilities, securing 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
The dedication and hard work of SPUP’s journalism team were also evident in the recognition of their school publications. The Paulinette (Elementary English) was hailed the 3rd best school paper in the region. The team’s outstanding performance extended to various page categories as well; securing 1st place in News Page and Page Layout and Design, 2nd place in Feature Page, and 4th place in Opinion Page. Their sports page also gained recognition, securing an impressive 6th place. On the other hand, The Pauleen (Secondary English) received the prestigious honor of being named the top 3 best Opinion-Editorial Page.
