STUDENTS’ INNOVATIVE PROJECTS ADVANCE TO INTERNATIONAL ARENA

Students from the Basic Education Unit (BEU) represented St. Paul University Philippines in the National Innovation Congress (NIC) on March 15-16, 2024. Organized by Krya (Educate to Innovate) in Indonesia, the convergence served as a learning platform for young innovators in the form of online competitions and collaborations. Winners in the congress are eligible to participate in the International Creativity and Innovation Award (ICIA) in Bangkok, Thailand, this April 2024.
In the various contest categories, Krya highlighted innovative approaches and educational values in selecting the winners. These include the application of the project in different backgrounds (Diversity); production of educational, unique yet useful project (Authenticity); and the viability of the project in addressing societal development (Sustainability).
Participants from SPUP’s Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) engaged in the different competition categories, earned awards, and qualified to join ICIA 2024. In the Innovation Challenge, the following projects were hailed as international qualifiers: GlucoBot (Champion), MetaBOTic Chamber and TacTile. In the Digital Innovation Challenge, project PAULA was declared 1st Runner-up, while in the Inventor Wannabe, Ms. Ana Camilla Guzman won 2nd Runner Up. In the Innovation Sing and Dance contest, JHS’ Innovation for SDGs bagged the championship plum whereas, SHS’ Make A Change was proclaimed 1st Runner Up.
The National Innovation Congress was hosted by St. Paul University Dumaguete, via a Hybrid Set-up.
